How Long Does an Instagram Appeal Take?

Review time varies with the decision being appealed, the information required, review volume, and whether identity or ownership must be verified.

A content-removal review and a disabled-account appeal are different processes. Copyright, trademark, ad-account, and Oversight Board matters also follow separate rules.

Treat any third-party promise of a guaranteed response time or paid fast-track as a warning sign.

How to submit the correct appeal

For removed content, open Account Status, select the affected item, and use Request a review when offered.

For a disabled account, open the Instagram app, enter the account credentials, and follow the on-screen review instructions.

For a hacked account, use Instagram's account recovery flow rather than repeatedly filing unrelated appeals.

How to check progress

Watch the Support Requests and Account Status areas in the app.

Check the inbox and spam folder of the email address connected to the account.

Keep screenshots of the decision notice, appeal confirmation, and any reference number, but never share recovery codes publicly.

What to do while you wait

Avoid submitting the same form repeatedly unless Instagram asks for new information.

Keep access to the account email and phone number, and respond only through official Meta or Instagram channels.

Do not pay people who claim they have an internal contact. Legitimate reviews do not require handing over your password or two-factor code.

When to follow up

If the app provides a status or request channel, use that channel rather than starting a different case.

If you receive a request for identification or clarification, answer accurately and promptly.
